Nasrallah given temporary burial in secret location until public funeral: Report

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on September 27, has been given a temporary burial in a secret location until a public funeral can be held, sources close to the matter told the news agency AFP.
“Hassan Nasrallah has been temporarily buried, until the circumstances allow for a public funeral,” the source said.
Hezbollah has not yet announced plans for the funeral of Nasrallah. Conflicting reports suggested that his final resting place could be either in Lebanon or Iraq.
Abdul Amir Al Teiban, an adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani, tweeted that Nasrallah would be buried “next to Imam Hussein, in Karbala” in Iraq, a place which has immense significance for the Shia Muslim community.
A Lebanese official who spoke to AFP stated that Hezbollah had sought “guarantees” from American leaders, through Lebanese intermediaries, to organise a mass funeral for their slain leader. However, in the wake of ongoing Israeli raids in the southern suburbs of Beirut, no such guarantees were secured.
Meanwhile, a symbolic funeral of Nasrallah is expected to be held on Friday, under the leadership of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Khamenei, who delivered a rare Friday sermon in Tehran, his first in five years, mourned the death of Nasrallah. A procession is also likely to be held in Tehran. Thousands of Iranians gathered in the capital to see the leader, with a photograph of Khamenei displayed alongside an image of Nasrallah on the main stage.
Nasrallah, the 64-year-old leader who led the Iran-backed terrorist group for over three decades, was killed in a massive Israeli airstrike targeting the group’s central headquarters in Beirut. Reports indicated that 80 tons of bunker-busting bombs were used to hit the bunker where Nasrallah and senior Hezbollah leaders were meeting.
The explosions breached the bunker, releasing toxic fumes that ultimately led to Nasrallah’s death possibly due to asphyxiation. His body showed no visible external injuries, suggesting he may have suffocated in the toxic environment created by the blast.
